One is semaglutide, sold by Novo Nordisk as Wegovy for obesity treatment and as Ozempic for diabetes. The second, tirzepatide, is sold by Eli Lilly as Zepbound for obesity and as Mounjaro for diabetes. Many with neither obesity or diabetes take the drugs to get thinner.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">A recent <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/jamanetwork.com\/journals\/jamainternalmedicine\/fullarticle\/2821080\" title rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">study<\/a> suggested that people lost more weight taking Mounjaro than they did taking Ozempic, and it may leave you wondering: Which should I take? And if I\u2019m already taking one of them, should I switch?<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">The answers, obesity medicine experts say, are not so simple. Here are some factors that can help sort out hype from realistic hope.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"css-13o6u42 eoo0vm40\" id=\"link-7b328849\">Is one weight loss drug really better than the other?<\/h2>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">For now, it\u2019s hard to say. All of the information available comes from \u201chighly flawed studies,\u201d said Dr. Diana Thiara, medical director of the weight loss clinic at the University of California, San Francisco.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"css-s99gbd StoryBodyCompanionColumn\">\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">That includes the recent study comparing Mounjaro and Ozempic. Using electronic health records, the researchers reported that those taking Mounjaro lost an average of 15.3 percent of their weight after a year. Those taking Ozempic lost an average of 8.3 percent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">While that sounds impressive, Dr. Susan Z.
