More joy and pleasure \u2014 less hard slog.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">\u201cSo much of the literature was focused on suffering, on pain, on risk factors \u2014 and that is important,\u201d said Mx. McDaniel, who identifies as queer and nonbinary and uses they\/them pronouns. \u201cBut I wasn\u2019t seeing the other side of the coin.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Years later, after becoming a therapist who works with transgender people, \u201cI decided that I needed to create it myself,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">The resulting book, \u201c<a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gendermagic.org\/\" title rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Gender Magic<\/a>,\u201d was the resource that Mx. McDaniel wished they had available when they were younger \u2014 an emphasis on positive coping strategies and a practical guide for achieving what Mx.
