Most of the fats in avocados are monounsaturated, which differ from the saturated fats abundant in meats and dairy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">\u201cSaturated fats can gunk up your blood vessels and increase your heart disease risk,\u201d Dr. Klingbeil said. If left unchecked, this gunk, called LDL or \u201c<a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/01\/31\/well\/live\/cholesterol-tests-levels-heart-disease.html\" title>bad\u201d cholesterol<\/a>, can lead to heart attacks or strokes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">While saturated fats increase LDL cholesterol, unsaturated fats can lower it.
