And as <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/05\/10\/well\/covid-flirt-variants-symptoms.html\" title>new Covid variants<\/a> circulate, experts say we may also soon see an uptick in cases. (Though <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/covid.cdc.gov\/covid-data-tracker\/#wastewater-surveillance\" title rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">wastewater data<\/a> suggests that Covid cases are currently fairly low.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">It can be tricky to distinguish between seasonal allergy symptoms, early signs of the coronavirus or just a run-of-the-mill cold.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">The clearest way to get an answer is to take a Covid test. But <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/01\/10\/well\/live\/covid-19-home-tests.html\" title>at-home rapid test<\/a>s have become more difficult to get a hold of since the <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/02\/01\/well\/live\/covid-public-health-emergency.html\" title>public health emergency<\/a> expired. Here are other tips to help you identify the source of your suffering.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"css-kypbrf eoo0vm40\" id=\"link-3d644ed1\">Watch out for specific symptoms<\/h2>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Some people with Covid can experience the worst symptoms during, say, their third infection compared to their first two.
