She spent the next 15 years educating young people about early detection through her nonprofit organization, CoppaFeel, and in a 2021 memoir, \u201cGlittering a Turd.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">On Monday, CoppaFeel announced that Ms. Hallenga had died at 38. A spokesman for the organization said she had died at home in Cornwall, England, and that the cause was breast cancer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">\u201cSurvival was never enough,\u201d she <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=OGEA4ZyFV-k\" title rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">said during a publicity tour<\/a> in 2021. \u201cI don\u2019t just want to survive, I want to be able to really look at my life and go, \u2018I\u2019m glad to still be here, and I\u2019m getting the most of what I want from life.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"css-s99gbd StoryBodyCompanionColumn\">\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Kristen Hallenga was born on Nov. 11, 1985, in Norden, a small town in northern Germany, to a German father and an English mother, both of whom were teachers, <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.co.uk\/article\/kristin-hallenga-obituary-uncompromising-breast-cancer-awareness-campaigner-qjnxvx2bj\" title rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">according to The Times of London<\/a>. When she was 9, she moved to Daventry in central England with her mother, Jane Hallenga; her twin sister, Maren Hallenga; and their older sister Maike Hallenga, all three of whom survive her. Her father, Reiner Hallenga, <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.co.uk\/2015\/10\/23\/coppafeel-kris-hallenga-breast-cancer-awareness-month_n_8338300.html\" title rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">died of a heart attack when she was 20.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Ms. Hallenga first felt a lump in 2009 when she was in Beijing working for a travel company and teaching on the side.
