One headband serves as a personal meditation coach by monitoring the user\u2019s brain activity. Another purports to help treat anxiety and symptoms of depression. Another reads and interprets brain signals <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/brainbit.com\/other\/\" title rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">while the user scrolls through dating apps<\/a>, presumably to provide better matches. (\u201c\u2018Listen to your heart\u2019 is not enough,\u201d the manufacturer says on its website.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">The companies behind such technologies have access to the records of the users\u2019 brain activity \u2014 the electrical signals underlying our thoughts, feelings and intentions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">On Wednesday, Governor Jared Polis of Colorado signed a bill that, for the first time in the United States, tries to ensure that such data remains truly private.
