There\u2019s so much to be discovered there that any expedition is the oceanographic equivalent of going to the moon, Dr. Thompson said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Now, President Trump\u2019s cost-cutting could take away the ship.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Among the many deep cuts to scientific research in Mr. Trump\u2019s proposed budget is the abrupt termination of the Nathaniel B. Palmer, the sole U.S. icebreaker dedicated to Antarctic research.
