In 2019, <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2019\/12\/07\/science\/interstellar-comet-2i-borisov.html\" title>Borisov<\/a>, a comet of interstellar origin, passed by.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">On Tuesday, a telescope in Chile spotted what initially looked like an unknown asteroid on a highly eccentric path that might come close to Earth\u2019s orbit.
