He is weakening the country\u2019s capacity to understand global warming and to prepare for its consequences.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">The administration has dismantled climate research, <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/02\/27\/climate\/noaa-layoffs-trump.html\" title>firing some of the nation\u2019s top scientists<\/a>, and gutted efforts to chart how fast greenhouse gases are building up in the atmosphere and <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/04\/28\/climate\/national-climate-assessment-authors-dismissed.html\" title>what that means<\/a> for the economy, employment, agriculture, health and other aspects of American society.
