So far, 71 stations have been built, with many more in development, according to the research firm Atlas Public Policy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\"><a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/oag.ca.gov\/system\/files\/attachments\/press-docs\/COMPLAINT%20NEVI.pdf\" title rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">The lawsuit<\/a>, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington in Seattle, states that federal agencies have unlawfully frozen those funds and halted approvals for new stations, depriving states of critical resources and damaging the growing electric-vehicle industry.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">The White House budget <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefings-statements\/2025\/05\/the-white-house-office-of-management-and-budget-releases-the-presidents-fiscal-year-2026-skinny-budget\/\" title rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">proposal released last week<\/a> said that it was canceling funding for \u201cfailed electric-vehicle-charger grant programs.\u201d President Trump had already taken aim at the program in a January <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/presidential-actions\/2025\/01\/unleashing-american-energy\/\" title rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">executive order<\/a>, and the <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/02\/07\/climate\/trump-ev-charger-funding-freeze.html\" title>Transportation Department followed with a similar memo the next month<\/a>.
