Another is simple: He goes out to his lawn, takes his shoes off and walks through the grass.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">\u201cPeople say that as a joke, like, \u2018Man, go touch grass,\u2019\u201d he said. \u201cGo touch grass! And watch what happens.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"Dropzone-1\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"css-s99gbd StoryBodyCompanionColumn\" data-testid=\"companionColumn-1\">\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">It hasn\u2019t been easy to be open, he said, but it has been worth it. Sometimes, he added, strangers approach him to say that because he talked about going to therapy, their husband or brother decided to do the same.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">That led to a realization, he said, that \u201cwhen you live your truth, nobody can use your truth against you \u2014 when you live your truth, you kind of just find a tribe that gives you more strength to continue doing the work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Charlamagne said men, and especially Black men, did themselves and their loved ones no favors by keeping their struggles secret. The point is personal for Charlamagne. Only in 2018, when a cousin killed himself after attempting suicide several times before, did his own father tell him he had once attempted suicide.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">\u201cI remember just thinking to myself, \u2018Wow, if you would have told me this years ago, then I would have known what that anxiety was I was experiencing. I would have known what those bouts of depression was I was experiencing,\u2019\u201d he said. \u201cAnd I remember asking my mom, I said, \u2018Yo, you know Dad was going through all of this?\u2019 And she said to me, \u2018Yeah, I thought he was just playing crazy to get a check.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">\u201cMy point is,\u201d he continued, \u201cthere\u2019s no need for any of us to keep secrets from each other.
