Immediately after, he lets a taipan from Papua New Guinea bite his right arm. \u201cThanks for watching,\u201d he <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=bG1YadH8Q2E\" title rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">calmly tells the camera<\/a>, his left arm bleeding, and then exits.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Over nearly 18 years, the man, Tim Friede, 57, injected himself with carefully calibrated, escalating doses of venom to build his immunity to 16 deadly snake species. He also allowed the snakes \u2014 mostly one at a time, but sometimes two, as in the video \u2014 to sink their sharp fangs into him about 200 times.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">This bit of daredevilry (one name for it) may now help to solve <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/01\/06\/health\/africa-snakebite-treatment-access.html\" title>a dire global health problem<\/a>.
