But in a <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/04\/21\/technology\/google-search-remedies-hearing.html\" title>hearing<\/a> that began last week to figure out how to fix the problem, the emphasis has frequently landed on a different technology, artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">In U.S. District Court in Washington last week, <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/04\/21\/technology\/google-search-antitrust-hearing-breakup.html\" title>a Justice Department lawyer argued<\/a> that Google could use its search monopoly to become the dominant player in A.I. Google executives disclosed internal discussions about expanding the reach of Gemini, the company\u2019s A.I. chatbot. And executives at rival A.I. companies said that Google\u2019s power was an obstacle to their success.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">On Wednesday, the first substantial question posed to <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/04\/30\/technology\/google-ceo-antitrust-trial.html\" title>Google\u2019s chief executive, Sundar Pichai<\/a>, after he took the stand was also about A.I.
