More than half of Americans over the age of 12 have watched a video podcast \u2014 but primarily on YouTube, according to an Edison Research <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.edisonresearch.com\/the-infinite-dial-2025\/\" title rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">report<\/a> from January. The service claims to reach 1 billion podcast consumers every month, making it the dominant platform for podcasts \u2014 a <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/04\/23\/google-youtube-disney-tiktok.html\" title rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">media king<\/a> and kingmaker \u2014 and leaving onetime audio-only platforms like Spotify and Apple Podcasts in the dust. (Spotify introduced video podcasts in 2019.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Compared with YouTube, Spotify has become a podcast underdog, with about 170 million monthly podcast listeners among its total audience of 675 million.
