He just didn\u2019t have anything concrete to tell them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">\u201cUntil recently, the answer was, \u2018I don\u2019t know,\u2019 \u201d said Dr. Pastuszak, who is now a urologist at the University of Utah.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">So he started looking for an answer. Cannabis is legal for either medicinal or recreational purposes in all but 11 states and was used at least once by 52.5 million Americans in 2021, <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/cannabis\/data-research\/facts-stats\/index.html\" title rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention<\/a>. Yet because it remains illegal under federal law, it\u2019s hard to study, and its long term health effects are still poorly understood, said Dr. Omer Raheem, a urologist at the Cleveland Clinic who practices in the United States and Abu Dhabi.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"Dropzone-1\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"css-s99gbd StoryBodyCompanionColumn\" data-testid=\"companionColumn-1\">\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Even so, when it comes to the male reproductive system, some effects of cannabis are becoming clear. By looking at 48 studies from around the world, Dr. Pastuszak <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/articles\/PMC7385722\/\" title rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">found in 2019<\/a> that cannabis products <em class=\"css-2fg4z9 e1gzwzxm0\">do<\/em> harm a man\u2019s chances of conceiving children.
