It is only partially as impressive as the total solar eclipse <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/news-event\/total-solar-eclipse-2024\" title>that cut across the United States last year<\/a>, but it is an opportunity to take a break from worldly matters and witness our place in the solar system.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">During the eclipse, the moon will appear to take a bite out of the sun, but how much varies by location. And clouds can spoil the view.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">The surface of the sun will never be fully obscured during this event, so it is never safe to look at the partial solar eclipse without protective eye gear.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"css-13o6u42 eoo0vm40\" id=\"link-3cdfc904\">When is the solar eclipse?<\/h2>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">People in the regions where the partial solar eclipse is visible will experience it differently. How much of the sun will be covered, and what time it happens, depends on location.
