Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has often criticized prescription stimulants, such as Adderall, that are primarily used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have damaged this entire generation,\u201d he said last year<\/a> during a podcast, referring to the number of children taking psychiatric medications. \u201cWe have poisoned them.\u201d<\/p>\n

In February, the \u201cMake America Healthy Again\u201d commission<\/a>, led by Mr. Kennedy, announced plans to evaluate the \u201cthreat\u201d posed by drugs like prescription stimulants.<\/p>\n

But are they a threat? And if so, to whom?<\/p>\n

Like many medications, prescription stimulants have potential side effects, and there are people who misuse them. Yet these drugs are also considered some of the most effective and well-researched<\/a> treatments that psychiatry has to offer, said Dr. Jeffrey H.
