France confirms that it can lead the way in protecting public health,\u201d Nicolas Thierry, a politician of France\u2019s Green Party who proposed the ban last year, <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/bsky.app\/profile\/nicolas-thierry.bsky.social\/post\/3limpcjehf226\" title rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">wrote on Bluesky<\/a>. Known commonly as \u201cforever chemicals\u201d because they don\u2019t easily break down in the environment, PFAS can damage the liver and immune system and have also been linked to birth defects, developmental delays and an increased risk of certain cancers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">France\u2019s new law, which goes into effect next year, bans the manufacture, trade and marketing of PFAS-containing cosmetics, footwear, certain textiles and ski wax.
