NHS England has been urged to publish a full report after a major investigation into the care received by Nottingham triple killer Valdo Calocane.<\/p>\n

Barnaby Webber and Grace O’Malley-Kumar, both 19, and 65-year-old Ian Coates were killed by Calocane on 13 June 2023.<\/p>\n

The Independent Mental Health Homicide Review is due to be published this week, but the PA news agency understands the full version will be kept confidential due to “data protection legislation relating to patient information”.<\/p>\n

A spokesman for the families of the victims said they believed it was in the public interest for the full details to be published.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Calocane was sentenced to a hospital order<\/a> in January 2024 after pleading guilty to three counts of manslaughter on the basis of diminished responsibility, and three counts of attempted murder.<\/p>\n

NHS England announced plans for its investigation<\/a> shortly after the sentencing.<\/p>\n

It is thought only Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, which runs mental health services in the county, will have access to the full report.<\/p>\n

In a statement, the spokesman acting on behalf of the victims’ families said: “The families have already reached out to NHS England to strongly urge them to publish the findings in full.<\/p>\n

“They believe it is very much in the public interest and in the interests of safety to do so. NHS England have thus far refused.”<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for NHS England said: “Independent mental health homicide reports are commissioned by NHS England and published in line with the requirements of confidentiality and data protection legislation relating to patient information.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
