He also said that Meta was paying close attention to the fate of one of its greatest competitors: <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/01\/16\/business\/tiktok-ban.html\" title>TikTok<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Depending on what happened to TikTok, which is owned by the Chinese company ByteDance and faces a ban in the United States, Meta needed to prepare for what could be a seismic shift in how Americans used social media, Mr. Schultz said.
