The first person she called was her sister Annette.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">\u201cWhat\u2019s going on?\u201d Ms. Lifton asked.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">\u201cYou have to download the Watch Duty app,\u201d her sister responded.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Ms. Lifton did just that, tracking the spread of the fire through the app\u2019s map and updates as she packed her car with her most prized possessions \u2014 her favorite sequin jacket; her dogs, King Charles spaniels, Elle and Sansa; and the two Emmys she won as a television and movie sound editor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">For Ms. Lifton and thousands of other Los Angeles residents, <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/app.watchduty.org\/\" title rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Watch Duty<\/a> has become a lifeline in tracking the multiple wildfires blazing around the city.
