Then last week Mr. Bezos ventured \u2014 well, stumbled \u2014 into the heart of the news.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Among his many properties is The Washington Post, which he bought in 2013. The paper\u2019s editorial board was preparing to recommend the Democratic nominee for president, Kamala Harris, when <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/10\/27\/business\/media\/washington-post-president-endorsement.html\" title>Mr. Bezos canceled the endorsement<\/a> at the last minute.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">It wasn\u2019t supposed to be a big deal, just a ho-hum announcement of something not happening.
