All of those swings tend to add up to a lot of injuries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">\u201cWhen you swing a golf club, you\u2019re asking your body to generate a lot of force,\u201d said Gene Shirokobrod, a physical therapist in Maryland who has created a program designed to reduce golf injuries and improve performance. \u201cMost people\u2019s daily activities don\u2019t require that kind of aggressive, rotational force\u201d that the game requires, he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Even among young players, those sudden movements can cause <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/12131175\/\" title rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">back pain<\/a> \u2014 the most common golf injury \u2014 or elbow pain and shoulder pain. Then, when you suddenly push your spine and hips to their limits during a golf swing, it\u2019s a recipe for injury.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">If you have limited mobility in either your upper (or thoracic) spine or your hips, your body will try to create the force it needs in other ways \u2014 often stressing other parts of the body.
