But many scientists and longevity seekers like Mr. Berger think the drug can do much more than that: They say it can delay aging and age-related diseases.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Mr. Berger, who lives in Saratoga, Calif., learned about rapamycin through a friend who runs Rapamycin News, an <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rapamycin.news\/\" title rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">online forum<\/a> for people who experiment with the drug. He said he hasn\u2019t experienced any \u201c\u2018Oh my God, I\u2019m a different person\u2019 kind of change\u201d since taking it, though his dentist remarked that his gums looked healthier than they had in a long time, and he feels like he has more energy these days. But he admits \u201cit\u2019s really hard to tell: How much is this placebo?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">On podcasts, social feeds and forums devoted to anti-aging, rapamycin is hailed as the \u201cgold standard\u201d for life extension.
