This time they did not.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Instead, they checked to make sure the boy\u2019s cough was improving and his fever was gone \u2014 and then set off for New Jersey, not bothering to tell the grandparents about the incident.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">In the fifth summer of Covid, cases are surging, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has reported \u201chigh\u201d or \u201cvery high\u201d levels of the virus in wastewater in <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/06\/03\/well\/live\/covid-symptoms-treatment-flirt-variants.html\" title>almost every state<\/a>.
