Then, he looked at me warily. \u201cYou\u2019re going to ask some experts, aren\u2019t you?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">\u201cTell Mom and Dad that\u2019s not a good idea,\u201d said Myriam Shaw Ojeda, an assistant professor of pharmacy practice and science at Ohio State University\u2019s College of Pharmacy. Storing medication near a heat source may reduce its effectiveness, she explained.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">My parents aren\u2019t the only people who assume that one safekeeping spot is as good as another. Less than half of the participants <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC8326694\/\" title rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">in a 2021 study<\/a> were storing their medications appropriately.
