Just look at the various presidents who left office with many more silvery strands than when they went in.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">But if you dig into the research, you\u2019ll find that few studies on the topic exist. And while some have found associations between premature graying and stress, no research has proved the link.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">\u201cThere\u2019s still a lot we don\u2019t know,\u201d said Dr. Paradi Mirmirani, a dermatologist at the Kaiser Permanente Vallejo Medical Center in Northern California.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"css-s99gbd StoryBodyCompanionColumn\">\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<h2 class=\"css-1u37br4 eoo0vm40\" id=\"link-1598624a\">The Science of Stress and Gray Hair<\/h2>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">In past studies, researchers have asked participants to fill out questionnaires about their hair color and stress levels, and then the scientists would see if they could link them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">In <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/10.1111\/pde.12881\" title rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">one study published in 2016<\/a>, for instance, scientists surveyed more than 1,100 young Turkish adults and found that the 315 who reported prematurely graying hair had higher stress levels than those who didn\u2019t.
